Hmong New Year Pov Pob

On New Years day 2010, I had the honor to attend the International Hmong New Year celebration in Fresno Ca.

I asked for the definition of Pov Pob and it was explained to me by 3 Hmong's that it was a communication tool of passing and opening communications. The young men also explained that is was used in courtship. Getting to know a person.

I was invited to play.

I watched in fasination hundreds playing and tossing tennis balls from young to old.

As a Mediator, I learned something on January 1st, how a tennis ball can open and start a relationship a friendship and open the door for commuications.

I thank the Hmong community for giving and sharing this gift.

I treasure this cultural communication.
